ЗОДІА́К, у, чол. Сукупність розміщених уздовж екліптики 12 сузір'їв, через які пролягає річний шлях видимого руху Сонця. Дванадцять сузір'їв, через які проходить екліптика, утворюють пояс зодіака і називаються зодіакальними. Зодіак — слово грецьке, що означає «коло тварин» (Воронцов-Вельямінов, Астрономія, 1956, 30).
